The Dept. of Cell Biology and Neurosciences at the Goethe University Frankfurt/M is inviting applications for a

Postdoctoral position (Physicist, Biophysicist, civil engineer) (3 years)

as part of the multidisciplinary LOEWE “Präbionik” (preventive biomechanics) network which has been founded by the state of Hesse for an initial period of three years starting  Jan. 2010.

The holder of  this position will be responsible for the development of analytical procedures evaluating ultrasound signals of different origin (3-D sonography, 3-D phase and amplitude sensitive acoustic microscopy) of  human tissues and organs. The research activities reach from 4-D reconstruction of human hearts (at the cardiosurgery unit, Philips University Marburg), 3-D reconstruction of mechanical properties of arteries, aortae and aneurysmic arteries to 3-D-reconstruction of jaw / tooth or jaw / implant mechanical interactions).

Applicants should be highly self-motivated, have a strong background in ultrasound techniques and good team working capabilities. This position is considered as a method platform bridging all the different applications of ultrasound analytics stated above. Therefore a strong background in modelling ultrasound – soft matter interactions is required. All scientists will benefit from the multidisciplinarity of the network combining life sciences with computational engineering.

Applications should include a one-page CV, complete list of publications, pdf files of the most important papers, a summary of research achievements. Applications should be directed by e-mail to
